FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How Long Are The Workshops?
We currently offer three workshops. Stand-up Comedy 101, for those new to stand-up comedy and focuses on things such as basic joke-writing skills, stage technique, and minimizing stage fright, Stand-up Comedy Writer's Workshop for those who've been on stage a few times and are looking to take their material to the next level, and our newest workshop, Stand-up Comedy for Kids, for young people with a good sense of humor who enjoy being funny and making people laugh. Each workshop is held one night a week for six consecutive weeks. Each session is thee hours long.  All workshops end with a Graduation Showcase in front of family and friends.  To register, click here.

  • I want to signup but I may have to miss a class or two. Is that a problem?
Since the workshops are only 6 weeks, we prefer you try and make every one.

  • How many students are in a workshop?
We cap class sizes off at 8. We've found by limiting each workshop, each student gets a fair amount of time to work on material in class.

  • Is six weeks really long enough to put together a comedy routine?
Believe it or not, in just six short weeks you will have put together material that WILL get laughs (providing of course you do put in the required amount of writing time). Not convinced? Click here to see students perform for the very first time.

  • Who Teaches The Workshops?
Classes are taught by veteran stand-up comedian and comedy show producer Tom Riehl. Tom has been performing stand-up comedy over 20 years and has been teaching in Orange County since 2009. Tom currently produces monthly stand-up comedy shows at the Camino Real Playhouse and Adele's in San Clemente. To get more info on Tom, go to www.tomriehl.com.

  • Is there an age requirement?
Adult classes are open to anyone 17 and over. Kids classes are ages 6-16.

  • Where are the workshops held?
Our current workshops are held at the Camino Real Playhouse in San Juan Capistrano.

  • Are workshops taught anywhere else?
Workshops are currently being planned throughout other parts of Orange County.  If you have a particular request, please let us know.

  • Where can I go to perform after I finish the class?
There are a variety of open mics and comedy contests throughout LA and Orange County that welcome those with limited stage time. For the advanced students, there's an opportunity to perform in our monthly shows as well.

  • Is this class guaranteed to make me funny?
No. It is guaranteed to make you funnier than you already are.
